As 2024 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on a year filled with meaningful progress and community action. Thanks to the dedication of advocates like you, Seattle Neighborhood Greenways achieved significant milestones that make our streets safer and more accessible for everyone.
Seattle Prop 1 Passed in a Landslide
With your support, we helped secure the largest investment in pedestrian and bike safety in Seattle’s history, ensuring better sidewalks, bike lanes, and safer streets for years to come.
Safer Streets Projects Became Reality
After years of advocacy, projects like the MLK Jr. Way S Safety Corridor, Beacon Ave S bike lanes, and the Georgetown to South Park Trail broke ground, bringing transformative improvements to communities in South Seattle.
Powerful Advocacy for the Future
From shaping the Seattle Transportation Plan to defending safety projects like Lake Washington Blvd, we continued pushing for a city that prioritizes walking, biking, and rolling.
Building Community Connections
We hosted events like the Moving Towards Climate Justice forum, neighborhood happy hours, and new volunteer orientations, creating spaces for people to come together and build a shared vision for Seattle.
Together, we’ve proven that community-led advocacy can lead to real, tangible change in Seattle.
As we prepare for 2025, we’re doubling down on our commitment to building a connected, safe, and vibrant city for everyone. From advocating for the implementation of Seattle Prop 1 projects to pushing for Mobility Justices, there’s still much to do together in the new year.
A Year of Progress for Safer Streets and Connected Communities
This year marked incredible progress in making Seattle safer and more accessible for everyone walking, biking, and rolling.
With the completion of long-awaited projects like the MLK Jr. Way S safety project, which has significantly improved walking and biking in the corridor, and transformative initiatives like the Georgetown to South Park Trail, we’ve made significant strides toward creating a more connected city.
Construction began on key corridors, including Beacon Ave, Eastlake Ave, and E Marginal Way, while smaller but impactful projects improved sidewalks, crossings, and neighborhood greenways citywide. Notable safety upgrades included speed cushions, all-way stops, and Seattle’s first-ever permanent School Streets, setting a precedent for safe access to schools.
These efforts reflect the power of advocacy and community engagement in shaping a safer, more equitable future for our neighborhoods.
